Especialista en la geolog\u00eda y la geof\u00edsica, su mayor aporte fue la teor\u00eda del pico de Hubbert sobre la disponibilidad de las reservas petr\u00f3leo y gas natural.<\/p>\n<p>Hubbert, naci\u00f3 el 5 de octubre en San Saba, Texas.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Obtuvo su grado en 1926, su maestr\u00eda en 1928, y su doctorado en 1937, en la Universidad de Chicago \u00a0estudi\u00f3 a la vez geolog\u00eda, la f\u00edsica y matem\u00e1ticas. Es analista mayor en 1942-1943 en Washington, hay sus primeros estudios sobre los recursos minerales.<\/p>\n<p>En 1956, durante la convenci\u00f3n anual del American Petroleum Institute, en San Antonio, Texas;\u00a0 en un discurso afirm\u00f3 que hasta 1970 la producci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo de Estados Unidos seguir\u00eda creciendo hasta llegar a un punto m\u00e1ximo, luego de lo cual caer\u00eda sin remedio. Los modelos derivados de esta teor\u00eda recordaron al mundo que el petr\u00f3leo es un recurso no renovable.<\/p>\n<p>King Hubbert trabaj\u00f3 \u00a0para Shell en Houston durante 20 a\u00f1os, geof\u00edsico, luego director de exploraci\u00f3n y producci\u00f3n, y por fin asesor principal de geolog\u00eda. Dej\u00f3 a Shell en 1963.<\/p>\n<p>Fue geof\u00edsico de investigaci\u00f3n a \u201cUS geological survey\u201d y profesor de Geolog\u00eda y geof\u00edsica a la Universidad de Stanford.<\/p>\n<p>Dej\u00f3 Stanford en 1968, regreso al mundo universitario en 1973 en Berkeley en California.<\/p>\n<p>Se jubil\u00f3 en 1976, pero sigui\u00f3 activo en \u201cUS geological survey\u201d, muri\u00f3 el 15 de octubre de 1989.<\/p>\n<p>La teor\u00eda \u201cDel Pico de Hubbert\u201d o \u201cCenit del petr\u00f3leo\u201d, habla sobre la tasa de agotamiento a largo plazo del petr\u00f3leo y otros combustibles f\u00f3siles. Prediciendo la producci\u00f3n mundial de petr\u00f3leo como llegar\u00e1 un cenit y despu\u00e9s caer\u00e1 tan r\u00e1pido como creci\u00f3, resaltando el hecho de que el factor limitador de la extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo son los recursos requeridos y no su coste econ\u00f3mico.<\/p>\n<p>Hubbert cre\u00f3 un modelo matem\u00e1tico que predice el nivel de extracci\u00f3n del petr\u00f3leo a lo largo del tiempo. Este predice que la extracci\u00f3n de un pozo cualquiera sigue una curva con un m\u00e1ximo, cenit de producci\u00f3n, en su centro. Llegados a ese punto cada barril de petr\u00f3leo se hace, progresivamente, m\u00e1s costoso de extraer hasta que la producci\u00f3n deja de ser rentable al necesitarse gastar m\u00e1s recursos para extraer el crudo, que los que se obtienen de comercializarlo, es decir cuando producir un barril de petr\u00f3leo sea m\u00e1s que lo que se puede pagar por \u00e9l. Realiz\u00f3 una analog\u00eda entre la funci\u00f3n parab\u00f3lica de producci\u00f3n de un pozo con la curva de producci\u00f3n de pa\u00edses enteros y, por extensi\u00f3n, la curva mundial; lo que se conocen como curva de Hubbert.<\/p>\n<p><ul id='postTabs_ul_176839' class='postTabs' style='display:none'>\n<li id='postTabs_li_0_176839' class='postTabs_curr'><a  id=\"176839_0\" onMouseOver=\"posTabsShowLinks('The Prediction Of M.King Hubbert');
